Case Studies
PORTSMOUTH COUNCIL LAKESIDE CAR PARK
Following drainage works undertaken in the carpark area, the reinstatement was subject to compaction settlement, asphalt had been used below recommended temperatures, and the surface texture had started to deteriorate. The carpark is subject to 4000 vehicle movements per day and minimising disruption to the clients facility was critical.
PORTSMOUTH COUNCIL LAKESIDE CAR PARK
Lakeside Office Park was acquired by Portsmouth City Council in August 2019. The asset was originally developed in 1976 and the carparking and roadway areas included significant volumes of concrete, which have since been overlaid using asphalt systems. Where vertical joints had not been created in the asphalt, the movement of the old concrete slabs has resulted in surface failures in the asphalt. A full resurfacing programme would be ideal, but wasn’t in the two-year maintenance budget, so an alternative solution was needed.
