The Problem

The OnDemand team were enlisted to help revitalize this underground car park which serves a prestigious and freshly refurbished office and residential complex in London. The principal contractor had refurbished the vertical surfaces to an extremely high standard and needed to treat the horizontal surfaces to a similar standard. The client had specific colour references that the floor finishes required to meet to fit with the décor scheme. Also, due to the inclined surfaces and the likelihood of surface water, it was extremely important that good slip resistance was maintained across the whole surface area.

The Products

The product selected to meet these criteria was MultiGrip W248 - an entirely water-based system with fast curing, good slip resistance levels, and a semi matt finish, which further enhanced the overall slip resistance of the surface. It can be manufactured to specific colour references, and the three colours used in this project were 7042 Traffic Grey, 6037 Pure Green and 5012 Light Blue, all complemented by lines and demarcation symbols in 1023 Traffic Yellow. An essential and integral part of this marking project was to elevate the use of cycling as a mode of transport, and a dedicated cycleway has been laid from the entrance as a continuous route down to the cycle storage area; this has been further complemented by bespoke and specially designed scooter bays in several locations.

The Application

After shot blasting the surface throughout to remove all surface soiling and prepare the surface for excellent adhesion, the project was delivered within the specified time period. It included the refurbishment of the stairwell treads and risers, highlighting the stair nosing's to comply with current DDA regulations fully. The before and after pictures show the complete transformation to the whole environment and the OnDemand floor coating was a very integral and essential part of this transformation.

The End Product

The client now has a parking area decorated to an extremely high standard, well lit, secure and equipped with storage for several different modes of transport to serve todays' needs. The client had specific colour references that the floor finishes needed to meet to fit with the décor scheme. Also, due to the inclined surfaces and the likelihood of surface water, good slip resistance is required to be maintained across the whole surface area.
